The program provides a strong foundation in public education systems, classroom management, communication, and professionalism, while also building core competencies in mathematics and English grammar and composition. Learners gain practical tools to assist instruction, support diverse learners, and contribute positively to classroom communities.
    Module 1: Understanding Public Schools
    Public school systems, diversity, education history, curriculum purpose, paraprofessional roles, classroom management, inclusive practices, students with exceptionalities, and English language learners.
    Module 2: Developing as a Paraprofessional
    Educational law and ethics, communication and collaboration, mentoring, stress‑reduction language, family communication, instructional strategies, learner development, and professional growth.
    Module 3: Basic Mathematics
    Foundational math skills including operations, number systems, fractions, decimals, equations, estimation, and factoring.
    Module 4: Geometry and Pre‑Algebra
    Ratios, proportions, percents, algebraic and geometric concepts, graphing, functions, polygons, and problem solving.
    Module 5: English Grammar
    Parts of speech, sentence structure, verb forms and tenses, voice and mood, spelling rules, vocabulary, and diction.
    Module 6: English Composition
    Writing mechanics, punctuation, the writing process, thesis development, organization, editing, essays, research, citation, and common writing errors.
    By completing this program, the learner will be able to:

    Explain the structure, purpose, and daily operations of public schools
    Support classroom management and student engagement in diverse learning environments
    Demonstrate effective communication with educators, students, and families
    Apply instructional strategies aligned with student developmental differences
    Perform essential math skills to support classroom instruction
    Use proper English grammar and composition skills in academic and professional settings
    Uphold legal, ethical, and professional standards as a paraprofessional
    Upon successful completion this course, learners will be eligible to sit for the ETS’ ParaPro Assessment Certification exam.
    This class is an independent-study course. Students will have all the resources needed to successfully complete the course within the online material. A student helpdesk is available for technical support during the course enrollment.
