The Teaching Gifted Learners course equips educators with research‑supported strategies to effectively identify and teach gifted students through purposeful curriculum differentiation. Offered by our accredited school partners, the course addresses common challenges in meeting the diverse needs of gifted learners and provides practical tools to differentiate context, process, and product. Learners gain actionable techniques—such as curriculum compacting, tiered instruction, and creativity models, to design challenging, engaging classrooms where gifted students can thrive.
Module 1: Preparing a Differentiated Classroom for Gifted Learners
Defining giftedness, identifying gifted learners, characteristics of differentiated classrooms, learning needs, and how gifted students learn.
Module 2: Curriculum Compacting and Differentiating Content
Curriculum compacting strategies, differentiating content, tiered assignments, learning contracts, and independent investigations (orbital studies).
Module 3: Differentiating Processes and Products
Flexible grouping techniques, tiered instructional materials, choice boards, menus of options, and open‑ended learning tasks.
Module 4: Creativity for Gifted Learners
Fostering creativity through instructional strategies and models including SCAMPER, the Wallas Model, creative problem solving, and the Williams Model.
By completing this course, the learner will be able to:
