The Sports Nutrition Program provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of how nutrition supports athletic performance, recovery, and overall health. Through structured modules, learners explore macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, energy systems, weight management, and sport‑specific fueling strategies. The program also introduces ergogenic aids, athlete consultation techniques, and nutrition considerations for special populations, equipping learners with practical knowledge applicable across fitness, athletic, and wellness settings.
Module 1: Basic Nutrients and Energy Systems
Foundations of sports nutrition, macronutrient digestion, energy production, cells and ATP, and the three energy systems.
Module 2: Carbohydrates and Fats
Classification, functions, dietary sources, glycemic index/load, lipid types, cholesterol, and performance implications.
Module 3: Proteins and Vitamins
Protein functions and requirements, nitrogen balance, supplementation, water‑ and fat‑soluble vitamins, antioxidants, and phytochemicals.
Module 4: Minerals and Hydration
Major and trace minerals, fluid balance, hydration strategies before, during, and after exercise.
Module 5: Nutritional Ergogenics and Athlete Consultation
Ergogenic aids, supplements and doping, diet histories, food record analysis, and consultation practices.
Module 6: Weight Management and Endurance Nutrition
Body composition, energy intake, weight management methods, endurance fueling, and hydration needs.
Module 7: Strength/Power and Team Sport Nutrition
Sport‑specific energy systems, macronutrient needs, micronutrients, fluids, and meal planning/logistics.
Module 8: Special Populations and Careers in Sports Nutrition
Nutrition considerations for special populations and overview of careers, licensure, and job markets in sports nutrition.
By completing this program, the learner will be able to:
Explain how carbohydrates, fats, and proteins support energy production and athletic performance
Analyze the role of vitamins, minerals, and hydration in training and recovery
Apply nutrition strategies for endurance, strength, power, and team sport athletes

Upon completion of this program, learners will be eligible to sit for the National Career Certification Board (NCCB) exam.
This course provides students with qualified support professionals to guide them through their learning experience. The student support team is available to answer any questions a learner may have including questions on course content, course material, certifications, and registration or enrollment questions. Support advisers also monitor the progress of learners to ensure training retention and program advancement.
