Through scenario‑based instruction, learners examine threat indicators, de‑escalation communication, preparedness planning, and response actions during an active incident. Emphasis is placed on prevention, mindset, coordination with law enforcement, and informed decision‑making to enhance safety for students, staff, and school communities.
Module 1: Threat and Prevention
Triggers, profiles and indicators of school violence, proactive groundwork, and establishing a threat assessment committee.
Module 2: Danger, Mindset, and Strategy
Responding to concerning behavior, de‑escalation communication, stages of alertness, campus review, and alarm systems.
Module 3: Under Fire
Guidance for communication with students, evacuation, concealment, securing spaces, and contacting law enforcement.
Module 4: Fighting Back
Decision considerations, confrontation dynamics, mindset under crisis, and awareness of weapons (overview only).
By completing this course, the learner will be able to:
