The STEM in the Elementary Classroom course introduces learners to practical, developmentally appropriate ways to infuse STEM concepts into elementary instruction. Offered by our accredited school partners, the course explores why STEM is essential to children’s cognitive and social development and how it supports communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Learners engage with sample lesson plans, templates, and STEM challenge ideas to confidently integrate science, technology, engineering, and math across content areas while fostering a supportive learning community.
Module 1: Foundations of STEM in Elementary Education
Understanding STEM‑infusion, its importance to child development, and the skills it supports (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity).
Module 2: Instructional Approaches for STEM Integration
Student‑centered learning strategies and approaches for embedding STEM concepts into elementary instruction.
Module 3: Integrating Content Areas with Rigor and Relevance
Cross‑curricular integration of science, technology, engineering, and math with literacy and other subjects to create meaningful learning experiences.
Module 4: Collaboration, Leadership, and Community Engagement
Fostering student collaboration and leadership while engaging teachers, families, and administrators to support STEM learning initiatives.
