This integrated HVAC and Electrical Technician training pathway equips learners with the foundational theory, hands‑on technical skills, and apprenticeship‑ready competencies needed to enter two of today’s most in‑demand skilled trades. Through a comprehensive, industry‑aligned curriculum, students gain practical experience in heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical circuits, installation, safety, and system diagnostics. Whether supporting HVAC installations, assisting licensed technicians, or performing foundational electrical work, graduates complete the program with the confidence, capability, and job‑focused skills required to excel in residential or light commercial environments and advance along a long‑term career pathway in the trades.

Interpret wiring diagrams, troubleshoot simple electrical circuits, and apply trades math to scenarios involving pressure, temperature, ratios, and airflow.
Demonstrate OSHA‑aligned safety practices, including hazard recognition, proper PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe handling of tools and equipment.
Follow industry standards for safe installation, maintenance, system operation, and basic diagnostic procedures.
Perform foundational installation and service tasks, such as system setup, airflow checks, and routine maintenance under the supervision of a licensed technician.
Support Year 1 and Year 2 HVAC technician/installer responsibilities and assist with multi‑family facility maintenance tasks.
Prepare for NATE CHP‑5 exams in HVAC Fundamentals, Comfort & Airflow, and Installation.
Communicate effectively with supervisors,
technicians, and customers while demonstrating reliability, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
Enter the workforce ready for helper‑level roles with a clear pathway toward full technician status.
EPA, NATE Ready to Work, and OSHA 10 exams included
OSHA and EPA exams must be purchased from Interplay Learning by World Education Student Services.
Learners will have access to the Interplay “NATE Training Academy,” which provides the NATE Ready to Work study materials at no cost. The Ready to Work exam must be purchased separately from NATE by World Education Student Services, along with any additional NATE exams. The Ready to Work credential is an entry level certification and is best suited for learners with limited or no prior HVAC experience.
The NATE Ready to Work certification pairs well with the optional NATE CHP 5 pathway, which consists of five exams and leads to full NATE Professional certification. The CHP 5 exams are not included in the total program cost; however, funding agencies typically cover these exam fees. Because the CHP 5 exams are rigorous, they may not be appropriate for individuals who are truly new to the field. Learners with prior experience, however, may find this pathway to be the best option.
