    Module 1: Foundations of Interior Decorating and Design
    Explores the historical, theoretical, and compositional foundations of design, including principles of design, color, light, and the impact of technology on modern interiors.
    Module 2: Planning Residential and Commercial Spaces
    Focuses on design as a systematic process, space programming, and planning strategies for residential, commercial, hospitality, and healthcare environments.
    Module 3: Exterior and Interior Environmental Systems
    Examines environmental influences, codes, building systems, lighting, energy conservation, and human comfort considerations within interior environments.
    Module 4: Interior Materials, Systems, and Finishes
    Covers material characteristics, sustainability, architectural systems, interior finishes, structural components, and cost and aesthetic considerations.
    Module 5: Furniture, Furnishings, and Equipment
    Addresses furniture planning, selection, materials, life-cycle costs, furnishings, accessories, and specialized equipment for healthcare, hospitality, retail, and institutional spaces.
    Module 6: Professional Practice and Design Communication
    Explores professional practice fundamentals, design communication methods, presentation techniques, business operations, and service models in interior design and decorating.
    After completing this course, the learner will be able to:

    Explain the historical, theoretical, and compositional foundations of interior decorating and design
    Apply design principles, color theory, and lighting concepts to interior environments
    Plan residential and commercial spaces using industry‑standard design processes
    Evaluate materials, finishes, furnishings, and systems based on function, aesthetics, sustainability, and cost
    Demonstrate foundational professional practices, communication skills, and business concepts used in interior decorating and design
    Upon successful completion of this program, the learner will be eligible to sit for the NCCB national certification exam to become a Certified Interior Decorating Specialist (CIDS).
